Training for practitioners

When running music sessions in Children's Centres,
private nurseries, schools etc one thing we notice is that many Early Years practitioners are uncomfortable delivering music. For that reason we have put together a  training course to support practitioners of all musical abilities - to give them confidence in delivering music, to share new ideas, to learn how to use music to support the wider EYFS curriculum etc.

Our training is lively and fun, very hands-on and informal. We can tailor the course to suit your requirements, and can provide either a full day's training or a half day. The training can be delivered direct to students, or to tutors as part of CPD.

Topics we cover include:-
  • understanding the importance of music in Early Years education
  • expanding your repertoire of early years music (songs, chants and rhymes with accompanying actions)
  • learning how to use music to support the broader EYFS curriculum - eg integrating music into the daily routine, songs to reinforce routine and behaviours (linking to PSE)
  • understanding how to link music to other curriculum themes, supporting and reinforcing learning
  • learning how to confidently use props to engage and sustain interest

We recently delivered a half day training session to the Childcare team at Bury College as part of their CPD, and the feedback was extremely positive. Joanne McKenzie, Head of Childcare, pronounced the course "absolutely fantastic" and here are some of the tutors' remarks:-
  • Lots of interesting ideas I will use in my lessons
  • It was great!
  • A very practical session which gave lots of ideas...able to pass on learning and ideas to students
  • Learned to adapt well known songs to support curriculum themes
  • Helped staff to enhance their teaching and learning practice
  • Loved it!
We have delivered several half day training sessions to mixed groups of EYFS practitioners (nursery and children's centre staff, trainee teachers, childminders etc).  Here is some of their feedback:-
  • Learned lots of new songs and I am going away with lots of ideas to use in my setting. My babies will love it!
  • Different songs and props to use within nursery, range of songs for all themes
  • This was a really enjoyable course delivered by friendly, approachable and knowledgeable people
  • Overall brilliant and very helpful, I loved it!
  • Excellent session! Both of you were very friendly and gave lots of support and advice!
